Dhubri youth claims of joining ULFA-I, sends SMS to parents.
Golakganj (Dhubri), January 19: A youth from Golakganj has confirmed of joining the banned United Liberation Front of Asom, Independent (ULFA-I).The youth identified as Hriday Sarkar (Bapan) was missing since January 15. According to his parents, Sarkar had gone out to buy sweets for Bhogali Bihu and did not return back home.However, hours after going “missing”, Hriday through SMS contacted his family members claiming that he has joined the ULFA-I along with 20 other youths.
“He (Hriday) sent SMSes like ‘I have joined the ULFA’, ‘ULFA Zindabad’ and ‘Joi Aai Asom’. He also mentioned that the group would reach the designated camp of ULFA-I on January 20,”said the father of Hriday. A complaint has been lodged with the Sagolia police. As per initial reports, Sarkar was a graduate from Halakura College and was inclined towards joining the Indian Army.
