BHARAT TRADE BANDH CALLED BY CAIT ON 18 FEB : SUPPORTED BY VARIOUS TRADERS ASSOCIATION SILCHAR
SILCHAR, 17 FEBRUARY : The decision of calling the strike was unanimously taken at a meeting on Saturday in Silchar after the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) have declared that they will organise a nationwide protest on February 18, Monday, to protest against the ghastly Pulwama terror attacks which resulted in the loss of 40 CRPF jawans in Pulwama, Awantipora. And made a call to all the states and cities to extend support to them in order to make it a truly 'Bharat Trade Bandh.'
Food Grains Merchant Association’s president Asit Dutta said all the business establishments would remain closed on Monday.
However, the strike will not be related with movement of vehicles and medical stores would be open also all the exams TDC, HS and HSLC examinations will be held as usual.
The organisations which called the strike include Silchar Food Grains Merchant Association, Cachar District Distributor Association, Silchar Business Association Co-Ordination Committee, Fatak Bazar Merchant Association, New Market Merchant Association, Wholesale Fish Merchant Association and Stationary and Retailer Association. Goldighi Mall Merchants Asociation has also communicated that they will also keep the Mall closed for 12 hours.
Members of the organisations will take out a silent march in memory of the departed souls around 11am on Monday morning. The march will start from near Fatak Bazar Kalibari area following which the members will submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi (through Cachar district administration) demanding stern action against those involved in the attack on the soldiers.
