5.5 magnitude earthquake jolts Assam, tremors felt in Northeast .

Earthquake measuring 5.9 Richter scale rattles Northeast. The epicentre of the quake is reportedly 170 kilometres northwest from Jorhat.

According to reports, the tremors were felt in Guwahati and others parts of Assam and Northeast at about 02:53 pm. The epicenter of the quake was located at a depth of 10 km at East Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh, the Met Office website stated.

No casualties have been reported so far, police said.
