GC college hosts awareness program on SLRM project.
An awareness program regarding the SLRM project at silchar was organised by DC of cachar at Gurucharan College auditorium hall here on Saturday. Kaya Madduri, DC of cachar graced the occasion & interacted with the students of various colleges of cachar district. She also talked about waste management i.e SLRM & dumping the solid & liquid resource management system.
Kaya Madduri mentioned that wastes should be treated as income generation resources. Cachar has taken the task on a mission mode to remove, recycle & reuse the waste littered across the city of silchar. And as a part of mission, the SLRM project is in operation here spearheaded by C. Srinivasan. The aim is to find a solution for the lapses in the duty to keep the city clean & also to make waste disposal an income generating activity. Regarding the liquid & solid waste by solid liquid resource management, joint venture of the district administration & silchar Municipal Board , Laya Madduri said that the project will be augmented under the proper management of the resources person C. Srinivasan. Solid liquid garbage will be bought by tricycle & recycled. She sought the cooperation people including the owners of various organizations of silchar & said that for the city to be made transparent & beautiful, all should come forward.
Later through a slideshow waste management expert C. Srinivasan explained that garbage could be converted & used as a resource for their employment generation. He also explained the difference between the previous collection methods of mixed waste collection & the current method of collecting household goods. Among others present at the program included Assistant Commissioner Abhilash Bamwal , Assistant Commissioner Maria Tanim & principal of Gurucharan College Bibhash Deb.
