Chris Gayle might just have played his final ODI knock for West Indies in the ongoing third and final ODI against India in Trinidad on Wednesday. Gayle, who was expected to call-time on his international career after the conclusion of the ICC World Cup 2019, had expressed his desire to play for one last time in the ongoing series against India. After a swashbuckling 72-run-knock in the final third ODI of the three-match series, Gayle looks all but set to quit the fifty-over format.
Gayle on his way back to the dug-out was congratulated by the Indian players as they bid farewell to one of the greatest ever to have played for West Indies. Gayle, who recently became the all-time highest run-getter for West Indies in ODI, surpassing the legendary Brian Lara, was playing his 301st ODI game on Wednesday in what could be his final appearance for Windies in the fifty-over format.
The Indian players walked up to him and congratulated the veteran batsman on a great career. Indian skipper Kohli was seen engaging in his trademark gesture with his former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate as he signed off in style.
