5. Married Women Of Interior Villages Facing Difficulties to prove " Linkages".
The married women
are facing extreme difficulties to proving their legacies as a result of which
they are not being able to reapply for NRC.
December 15 is the
last date for filling NRC claims and undoubtedly they are passing through a
lean patch. According to sources most of the seva kendras are still waiting for
applications. One the one hand stringent rules
and on the contary intricacies surrounding legacy data are making life
miserable for thr married women.
Actually, this
problem is being faced mostly by the married women of interior villages. NRC
coordinator Prateek Hajela's new farman has send this haples lot into tizzy.
Hajela has created a
new ' B category' and the women are
finding to difficult to meet the criteria of this newly category " I mwas
newly married off 38 yrs back. I have lost most of the documents. Now suddenly how
can i arrange all those documents? The authorities are not going to leave
anything. Really I am much worried says Mehrunnisa Begum.
There are many women
who never went to schools. This group is at the reciving end. This vulnerable
section is keeping their fingers crossed. Of the huge chunk of people who have
failed to make it the final draft NRC, there are a miniscule lot who have somehow
managed to collect their school documents.
But the latest
instructions of NRC authorities has dashed all their hopes. " The official
are cahnging their rules according to their whims and fancies. This is
complicating the matter. It is going to be difficult for us to meet their ever
chnging demands, " Begum quips.
They are pinning all
their hopes on Gaon Panchayats . But the main problem is related to link
cerificates because the missing out group is not being able to gather these '
crucial documents '.
" Earlier in '
List A ' the cutt off date was clearly
mentioned. But in the newly formed list there is no mention of any specific date. So, how can
we arrange the documents, " asked Begum.
The perturbed
applicants have made a fervent appeal to all the political parties to bury their ideological differeences and
come forward in this time of grave cricis.
