1. Two bodies recovered
SIILCHAR Christmas Day in silchar began on &
rather dismal note with two back to back cases of dead bodies being found in two separate
locations in town. The first incident was of a dead woman in her teens who was spotted
hanging from a cable in Shillongpatty at around 5:30 am,"While I was on my
morning walk 1 saw the body tied with a cable right nest to the Shani Mandir
right opposite old Nahaz" says an eye witness. Investigating Officer
Bidhan Dhar went to the spot and recovered the body. It is an unclaimed body and therefore we
will be keeping the body in a morgue for 72 hours and search for their family
members", he says,
Dhar refused to speculate or comment on the cause
of the death, "I am not in a position to say if it is a suicide or a
murder/' he asserts.
However, the Police noticed urine-like liquid in
the crime scene., cut marks in victim's tongue.
2. Rs 8 lakh looted in front of a bank
AGARTALA-Police is yet to recover the amount allegedly looted
on Monday in a mysterious circumstance in front of SBI ONGC branch here from an
employee.
However, the victim-parents and son- had been
released late last night after a daylong interrogation at Amtali police station.
Police said initial investigation revealed that the money
was not stolen as claimed but it might have been shifted by any of the
claimant. The CCTV footage of the bank indicated that before withdrawing the amount,
account holder Abdul Karim walked inside the bank and outside mere than 30 timesand
also before raising alarm of theft he was seen waiting with his wife for about
45 minutes at the bank gate.
According to report, Karim had withdrawn Rs 8 Lakh
from the bank along with his wife Hajira Regam and son Mohammed Salman. They
claimed the money was put inside the locker of his
sooty and went inside the bank for some other purpose. A few minutes later when they came out
found the money was not in the locker and reported the incident to police.
Police said during investigation it appeared that locker was
not broken and there was inconsistency
in the statements of the parents and son. Three of them Were picked
up for interrogation and released later in the night However, police Is yet to
crack the mystery of stolen money.
