SILCHAR: A complaint has been lodged by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) against the founder-president
of All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students Association (ACKHSA)-Pradip Dutta Roy for his 'inflammatory statement in connection with a protest by several students of Assam University opposing the Citizenship (Amendment)
Bill 2016.
A group of students of Assam University had on
Wednesday protested opposing the Bill. Reacting to this,
Pradip Dutta Roy said on Thursday that those students
are ‘enemies' of Barak Valley and steps would be taken
against them to ensure that Assamese students do not get
admission at Assam University if they do not stop raising
voices against the Bill.
The Samiti's organisational secretary' (central committee) Jahir Uddin Laskar on Thursday lodged a complaint
at Hailakandi Sadar Police Station against Roy. Laskar
said the statement by Roy had adversely affected the bond
between Brahmaputra and Barak valleys. “His statement
will scare the university students. which will also affect
their studies,” said Iaskar.“Roys remark was unacceptable and illogical as the students had protested in a
democratic way. He should be arrested within next 24-hours and stem action be taken against him,” he said.

On the other hand,
Hailakandi MLA Anowar Hussain Laskar said Roy should
remember that many students of Barak Valley study
at different educational institutions of Brahmaputra
Valley and they might face harassment because of his
statement.
