Laya Madduri has taken charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Cachar.

January 18: Laya Madduri has taken charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Cachar. She took over charges from the outgoing DC Dr S Laxmanan, IAS who will be joining as DC Sivasagar.

An IAS of 2010 batch of Assam Meghalaya cadre, Madduri has worked in Sonitpur, Majuli, Jorhat and Dibrugarh before 

joining here.

" I am aware of the issues in Barak Valley and I am looking forward to work as DC Cachar. I hope, I will get cooperation 

from the citizens of the district in addressing the prevalent here and together we can solve the problems as well," 

Madduri stated.

Meanwhile, Dr Laxmanan who will be leaving Cachar on Saturday expressed his heartfelt thanks to the people of Cachar for unabted support during his tenure and said that he would cherish the moments spent here.

Dr. Lakshmanan paved way and asked Laya Madduri to take the seat of the Deputy Commissioner. After that, both of them went to the Conference Hall. There a brief introduction of the new Deputy Commissioner was presented before the media. Dr. Lakshmanan informed that he would be leaving Silchar on Saturday morning. However, Laya Madduri refrained from any formal speech. She just informed that she would start discharging the duties of Deputy Commissioner from Saturday morning.
