Terrible Accident Near NIT Point Silchar : 1 Dead, 1 Injured
Silchar 20 February : A Road accident occurred at Silchar NIT Point on Wednesday afternoon at NIT
point. Eye witnesses
revealed that a motor bike had a head on collision with a tripper. The bike
rider Bibhu Sinha and his elder sister Sunanda Sinha (29) were on a motor bike.
They are the residents of Katlichera in Hailakandi district. They came to
Silchar for the purpose of shopping. All of a sudden, a tripper came at a very
high speed and hit the motor bike. As a result, both of them fell down from the
bike. Sunanda died on the spot. Bibhu Sinha was admitted at Silchar Medical
College & Hospital in a critical condition.
Meanwhile,
fuming locals have blocked the road. “They feel this accident occurred because
of the ongoing construction work and carelessness of tipper drivers driving on
the road,” says senior official in the traffic department. The protesters did
not allow Police to send the dead body to Silchar Medical College. There is a
severe traffic jam on each side of NIT because of this road blockade.
The driver
of the tipper ran away with the truck after hitting the motorbike, however,
Police have managed to nab it, “The driver drove for a while and then parked it
in shade close to the spot. We have found the vehicle, but the driver is still
missing. We are toeing the vehicle to Silchar Sadar Police Station for further investigation,” says the senior officer.
