Distribution of Dustbins in ward number 24 by District administration and SMB Cachar ; Dr Rajdeep Roy Inagurates the Ceremony
District Administration of Cachar and Silchar Municipality Board Under Solid Liquid Resource Management ( SLRM) project have jointly organised a Programme on distribution of Dustbins from the Commercial areas for Collection of Garbage in Ward 24 on Saturday at Tarapur here.
The distribution ceremony began on an Auspicious. MP Dr Rajdeep Roy inaugurated the ceremony. A new tricycle has been alloted for the collection of Garbage from the Commercial houses and shops of ward number 24 at India Club campus.
Speaking on the occasion, Cachar DC Laya Madduri said that the Collection of segregated solid resources had already been started and it has been taken running successfully. The pilot project had started in Ward number 24. She also praised Madhumita Sharma for comming forward to implement the pilot project in her ward.
Laya Madduri also mentioned that garbage will be collected trice a day which will be charging ₹ 5 a day. She sought cooperation from the local Shopkeepers and said that activities from ward number 24 will inspire the other wards to follow the procedures in achieving the misson to make " Silchar Swach and Sundar "
Niharendra Narayan Thakur, the chairperson of SMB Silchar explained the importance of solid and liquid resource management system. He said the difference between earlier collection system of mixed waste and present system of collecting the material from house hold before it converts into stinking garbage and could be used for creating of more employment opportunities.
Steps are being taken to make Silchar a clean, garbage -free and pollution free town. The district administration of cachar led by laya madduri along with DDMA, Cachar, and SMB are Keen to take concrete measures related to SLRM.
People Expressed willingness to own up this initiative and contribute to success of ' Swach Sundor Silchar ' after understanding the difference and hazards of littering garbage on the roads and drains. Assistant Commissioners Abhilash Barnwal Maria Tanim, Extra Commissioner Navanita Hazarkia and Madhuita Sharma were also present in the meeting
