Former MLA Rahul Roy solved drinking water problem in Kumba tea garden.
03 September, Udharbond/Kumba [Bikram Das] : Former MLA of Udharbond Rahul Roy on Monday handed over a check of Rupees 1 lakh to senior manager PD Mukiya and manager DK Hazarika for buying new pumps so that workers could drink pure drinking water at the Kumba Tea Estate.
Workers of Kumba Tea Garden, Chittaranjan Goala, Munna Baidya, Abdul Ali, Simran Tanti, Babul Tanti, said they had been deprived of drinking pure water in the garden for about a month and half since their water pumps were damaged.
The garden authorities tried to fix the drinking water pump, but became unsuccessful in solving the issue. Later, they approached the present MLA Mihirkanti Shome and former state minister and Ex MLA of Udharbond Ajit Singh to resolve the issue. But they did not came forward to solve the problem.
After they were forced to contact former MLA Rahul Roy, after hearing the problem faced by the tea garden workers, he assured them that he would bear the money for a new pump installation in the garden.
Former MLA Rahul Roy says " Today, I have filled my assurance, meanwhile, Garden workers have a huge role to play in the backdrop of their family. When I heard about the problem of drinking water in the Kumbha tea garden I had rushed to the Kumbha tea garden to solve the problem."
Kumbha Village Panchayat President Sumit Kurmi, Hiru Tenti, Bikramjit Das, Prabir Nandi, Manoj Chand, Ranu Chand, Daniel Mohapatra were present on the day of Handing the Check.
