Former Principal of Karimganj M.R. Khan escapes from kidnappers’ clutches
SILCHAR, Sept 9: In a sensational turn of events, 70- year-old Motiur Rahman Khan, former principal of Karimganj College made a narrow escape from the kidnappers den in the jungles of Dohliya area after he was allegedly abducted by unidentified men on Saturday.
Dr Motiur Rahman, on Saturday evening at around 7 pm in full public view.
Rahman, however, succeeded in escaping from their captivity. Rahman left his Mahakal Bibi Road residence for Kajirgram and while waiting for a car. a white
Alto 800 stopped near him and addressing him as 'sir' offered him a lift.
Rahman too boarded the car. Barring the driver, there was one more man inside the car. Three more men boarded the car from Mahakal Block office point, sources said. Few minutes later, they asked Rahman to shift to the back seat. When the car was about to cross Kajirgram. Rahman asked the driver to drop him there. But the driver, without heeding to his call, kept on moving.
Rahman sensed that something was fishy and when he started screaming. the miscreants threatened him with a pistol.
Rahman said. "After crossing Nandapur. the miscreants snatched away my mobile and wallet from me. They stopped at a jungle 6 kilometers away from Patharkandi. There, they tied me to a big tree. One man
stood guard, Later. I realized that the guard too had left the place, leaving me
there to die."
"Somehow 1 managed to untie my hands and uncover my eyes as well. I kept
on walking and finally at the break of dawn. 1 saw a locality. I shared my tale
with them and asked them to contact my student - the principal of Patharkandi
College, Manjurul Haq," he added.
Local residents then contacted Haq. who rushed to the place and rescued his
teacher. Thereafter. Rahman was taken to a Patharkandi hospital where he
received first aid. Patharkandi Police too recorded his statement and dropped
him at the residence of one of his relatives, sources told.

investigated.
