Illegal Sand Smuggling in Udharbond's Sahebghat
02, September, Silchar/Udharbond : [Bikram Das] :: Residents of the area filed a memorandum to district magistrate after accusing them of illegally collecting sand from a distance of two kilometers from Sahebghat in Chandighat Tea Garden under Udharbond police station.
Copies of the memorandum have been sent to the Minister of State for Forestry, District Forest Department Officer, Officer of the Uttarbond Circle Office, Udharbond Circle Officer.
Some local residents of Pangram, Devnath Pandey, Ashok Goswami, Altab Hussain, Jitu Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Krishna Kumar Bhar, Ujjal Pandey, Ghungurbandh went to the district magistrate office on Monday for issuing the memorandum to DC.

in “ Nakti drain “ but the Sand Smugglers crosses 1-2 Km inside without any
prior permission from government and illegally does smuggling. Moreover, the
sand collected from Sahebghat also does not fall under the Madhura Balu Mahal
Unit One. It is also alleged that 40-50 trucks are being smuggled out of Sahebghat
every day. due to illegal sand smuggling from the Madhura River.It is
feared that the dry season would be ineligible for the use of river water,
including the destruction banks of neighboring villages,
They also said that they had given a memorandum to Deputy
Commisioner, Including the Prime Minister & CM of Assam. Previously,
illegal sand Smuglling was stopped for several months. But for the past few
days, it has started again. A huge Protest would be created if illegally sanding is not stopped in the Madhura
River, they added.
