40-year-old housewife was Burnt to death ; Father & Daughter However Survived.
Silchar: A 40-year-old housewife was Burnt to death at Lalpani under Jirighat police station in Lakhipur constituency in Cachar district on Monday night. According to sources the incident took place around 10 pm on Monday night when the housewife Ayesha Begum engaged in a quarrel with her husband Rukan Ali at their house, which had some containers filled with petrol. Rukan. who was smoking a cigarette at that time, got enraged and the cigarette slipped out of his hand and fell inside their shop, adjacent to the house. This resulted in a major fire which engulfed the entire house within no time.
Neighbours somehow rescued the duo along with their daughter Rupsana
Begum (15) after which they were taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Ayesha did not survive and succumbed to her burn injuries in the hospital, sources said.
Rukon. who was released with Rupsana from the hospital on Tuesday, said two LPG cylinders inside the house exploded after the fire spread. All the valuables inside the house were destroyed.
