ABVP takes out mass rally for flawless NRC.
Silchar: The cachar district committee of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Wednesday, submitted a memorandum to state NRC co-ordinator Prateek Hajela ( through cachar district administration) demanding an error free NRC.The NRC being updated Assam under the supreme court's supervision , aims to identifying all Bina fide Indian citizen & detecting illegal immigrants living in the state. The final draft of NRC , published on July 30 last year contained the names of around 2.89 crore citizens out of 3.29 crore citizens, over 40.70 lakh citizens names were left out. The final NRC will be published on August 31st.
The ABVP, along with students in large numbers from different educational institution, took out a rally in the connection on Wednesday morning. It started from Rangerkhari, meandered through different localities & concluded in front of Cachar Deputy commissioner's office. The memorandum was later submitted.
The memorandum Said a large number of genuine residents of the state were not included in the draft NRC which gives an impression that there are a lot of anomalies & procedural loopholes in the updating process of the NRC. Further, the ABVP alleged in the memorandum that the names of illegal infiltrators have been included in the draft register. As a result, the very objective of mega exercise will not be fulfilled, the memorandum said.
The ABVP demands that necessary measures be taken so that a flawless NRC is published & sought the intervention of Prateek Hajela into the matter.
