Mini-Secretariats Journey Begins with Splendor in Barak Valley.

SILCHAR: The land worshipping (bhumi pujan) ceremony for setting up the
proposed mini-secretariat in Barak Valley was performed at Srikona in Cachar district on Tuesday. Excise, forest and fisheries minister Parimal Suklabaidya, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, said the citizens of Barak Valley have been waiting eagerly for a mini-secretariat for years and finally its journey has begun. The mini-secretariat, once built, will end people’s trouble of travelling
to Guwahati for various purposes, he said.

Suklabaidya showered praises on the Sarbananda Sonowal government saying
the government has taken the valley to the path of growth and development
ever since it came to power. Earlier, it took around sixteen to eighteen hours to
reach Guwahati from here, whereas now it takes around six to seven hours,” he said. Speaking about the East-West Silchar corridor (Silchar-Saurashtra road) project, Suklabaidya said the project remained incomplete for many years
during the previous government. The project gained a vigorous momentum after
the Sonowal government attained the throne in Dispur. The project will be completed within the next two years,” he said. Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy
said the valley remained deprived of development for decades because of the apathy of the previous governments. Setting up a mini-secretariat was one
of the major visions of the Sonowal government. The journey to it has begun, he said.Assam LegislativeAssembly’s deputy speaker Aminul Haque Laskar said the site for the mini-secretariat is very much suitable given its connectivity from the other two districts - Hailakandi and Karimganj. He echoed Suklabaidya and said people would not have to travel to Guwahati for many of their works after the mini-secretariat becomes a reality.

The superintending engineer of PWD (building). Silchar - Probal Deb said the mini secretariat would be built on an area of 16 bighas and 15 kathas and Rs. 4.13.63.262 has been allocated for the project’s first phase that includes retainingand boundary walls The second phase includes constructions of secretariat block, assembly building, guest house, quarters, internal
roads along with work of electrification and water supply among others. The total project is expected to get completed within the next three to four years, he said.
