Final phase of pre-test census
in Hailakandi from Sept 10
HAILAKANDI, Sept 6: [PRESS RELEASE] - Population enumeration under pre-test for Census 2021 will commence in Hailakandi revenue circle during the
second and final phase from September 10 to 30.
Pre-test is conducted between August 12
and September 30. In Assam, three revenue
circles of three districts have been selected
for the pre-test, out of which Hailakandi revenue circle is one of them.
A three-day training will be imparted to 59
enumerators and supervisors from September 7 to 9. During population enumeration,
enumerators and supervisors will make houseto-house visit to collect detailed information
of each member of the household.
The district administration has appealed to
the general public to cooperate with the enumerators and supervisors in this big task by
providing correct information, as the changing demographics and socio-economic parameters reflected by the census helps in reformulation of the country’s plans for the economic development and welfare schemes for
its people.
“The census is not only an exercise of head
count, but also provides invaluable socio-economic data which forms credible basis for informed policy formulation and allocation of resources,” officials said.
The House Listing Operations that commenced from August 12 has been completed
on September 4.
Officials in charge of the pre-test disclosed
that the exercise got under way since August
12. The training for HLO and how to conduct
the pre-test using mobile app was given to
the enumerators and supervisors for three
days from August 6 to 8.
“The pre-test is being conducted to find out
the shortcomings which can be rectified during the main census. The house listing for main
census will take place between April to September 2020 and the actual census enumeration will take place between February 9 to 28,
2021. The provisional census details will be
published on March 5, 2021,” officials said.
The Census 2021 will be conducted in two
phases. In the first phase, house listing operations would be conducted between April and
September in 2020.
During the second phase, actual population
enumeration would be done during February
9 to 28, 2021, followed by the revision round
from March 1 to 5, 2021.
